On January 5, 2016, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the 5-year Accountable Health Communities Model. This model and various other community-based models raise the bar for health care organizations in that they require large amounts of varied data and new types of analytics in order to achieve success.

AAI's Brady Augustine was the featured speaker at a joint session of the College of Science and Mathematics, School of Nursing, and Program for Health Services Administration. At the session, he gave a presentation titled "The Rise of the Health Data Scientist" that demonstrated the ability of data to bring teams together in order to improve care and reduce health care costs.
